Research Help

Use this guide to help you navigate the research process from start to finish.

Finalize Your Project

Finalize Your Project

Once you have found your articles, and evaluated them, there are a few things left to do to make sure you are turning in your best work! Synthesizing (or combining) all of your newly found information is a huge part of a successful research paper. Learn more below about how to organize and use sources effectively.

You also can utilize sources like the Writing Center to have someone look over and provide a final edit to your papers and projects.

Synthesize the Literature

So now that you have found your articles, and evaluated them for integrity and quality information, you need to combine the information from all of these sources into your assignment.

Remember that keyword chart from before? We can also use it to help us organize quotes, and main ideas, and to find gaps in our research.

Here is an example of a filled-out synthesis chart:

Edit & Review Your Work

You are almost finished! Before you turn everything in, have someone else look over your work. Sometimes a second pair of eyes can make a huge difference.

The Westminster Writing Center housed in Reeves Library is a great place to go for assistance with any part of the writing, review, or editing process. Learn more about the writing center here.

Citations are another huge part of this, so make sure you are reviewing our citation guide, and asking for help if you are unsure of how to properly cite a source!
