Representatives from Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Alpha Theta came to Westminster’s campus during the 1981-1982 school year to establish chapters of their respective sororities. Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Recruitment Counselor Linda Grebe and Kappa Alpha Theta’s Field Consultant Sue Byers (replaced by Recruitment Counselor Shayna Wombles in November of 1981) lived in Wetterau Hall and quickly became beloved members of the Westminster community.
In September of 1981, the first bids were given out to students. Initiation for both chapters, though, would not be until February 20, 1982. Preceding initiation, both chapters had their new members go through their own new member education period and take part in the specific pre-initiation rituals for that chapter.
After initiation, representatives from both chapters worked together to create a Panhellenic constitution. The representative for Kappa Kappa Gamma was Kathy Myers and the representative for Kappa Alpha Theta was Kathy Neumann. After the constitution was approved, it was sent to Panhellenic Co-Ordinator Mrs. William Woods and officially passed.
