Frequently Asked Questions About the Westminster Archives:

Where are the Westminster Archives stored?
The physical collection is housed in Reeves Library on the Westminster College campus. The main archival space is located on the 1st floor, with extra storage and collections on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

How can I use the physical archives?
You can use the archives Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm, or by special appointment. Librarians are able to assist you during the day, by unlocking the room and helping you find the materials you need. A Librarian or Archive Assistant will help you find a workspace in the main reading rooms.

Can I take items from the archives to use outside of the library?
Our general rule is that our archive collection needs to stay in the building. Under special circumstances, we might allow materials to be removed from the library, but the request will need to be approved prior to your visit. Items will not be permitted to leave campus.

What should I bring if I am doing research in the archives?
All you need to bring is your laptop/iPad or a pencil/paper for note-taking. If you will need a desktop computer while you research, arrangements can be made.

What is NOT allowed when researching at the archives?
Pens, food, and drink.

Can I make copies of items I need from the archives?
Reeves Library has access to a book and document scanner. If you need items scanned, our Archive Assistant or Librarian will be able to make these copies for you. All copies will be sent as the appropriate file type to your email.

Can I get help without having to come into the physical archives?
Yes! Just fill out the form on the Archival Research Request tab, and an Archive Assistant or Librarian will be in touch shortly. Scans can be made on your behalf and emailed to you for use off-campus.
